Initial Bulletin and Information

Over the next 20 years Bath needs to find space for 16,000 to 20,000 new jobs and 7,500 new dwellings. Growth on this scale will have a huge impact on the city and some very hard choices will need to be made.
At this first meeting of the Better Bath Forum, John Everitt, Chief Executive of B&NES Council will explain the background to the growth targets and the Council’s plans for reaching decisions on how best to achieve them. Mike Grist, Director of Development from Somer Community Housing will give a brief outline of affordable housing needs, and Robert Hellard from South Stoke Parish Council will describe the reaction of the parishes to the proposal for an urban extension of some 1500 new dwellings on the southern edge of the city.
Trevor Osborne, Chairman of the Trevor Osborne Property Group and local resident, will chair the discussion and will seek to identify the key issues which the meeting considers need to be taken into account as the Council develops its ideas on how the new development is to be managed.
Doors open from 18.00, when tea and coffee will be available. At the end of the meeting, there will be a raffle in aid of Julian House, and the opportunity to purchase a glass of wine, proceeds from which will also go to Julian House.
