Initial Bulletin and Information
This meeting of the Forum will look at the night time economy in Bath – eating, drinking, theatre, cinema, meetings, sport and other entertainments, and ask whether we’ve got the balance right.
Nigel Websper, Vice Chairman of Bath Residents, will set the scene and suggest that residents want to see a clean, safe family friendly city centre environment, with establishments that cater to all ages and social groups. Joey Cozens-Smith, President of Bath Spa University Students' Union will explain what makes a good night out for students and young people, and tell us how Bath measures up: what would students like to see more or less of in the city? Marc Thomas, chairman of Pubwatch in Bath, will outline the range of actions which the licensed trade is taking to ensure a safer social drinking environment for all its customers.
After these introductory comments, the meeting will be thrown open to participants from the floor, and most of the meeting will be taken up by this general discussion. Matt Atkinson, Principal of the City of Bath College, will chair the discussion and ensure that it reaches constructive conclusions about the changes needed, and who can help to bring them about.
Doors will be open from 18.00, and the meeting will start punctually at 18.30. It should finish around 20.15. Drinks and tea/coffee will be available from the bar before and after the meeting, so that informal discussion can continue.
