Can you help to continue the BetterBath Forum?
The BetterBath Forum was set up for the people of Bath to have their say on important topical issues affecting the City. We're now looking for new people to take over its organisation.
There have been twelve meetings over the last three years on subjects drawn from ideas proposed by supporters. Attendance has ranged from 100 to 200 people per meeting, and we have asked the Council and other key bodies in Bath to respond to the conclusions of each meeting.
We think the Forum’s been a considerable success:
· It’s raised the level of debate, and shown that large public meetings needn’t degenerate into a slanging match if they’re well organised and chaired.
· It has brought useful information into the public domain, eg on the Public Realm Strategy, and on a new rugby stadium.
· It has reached important conclusions, eg about regeneration of parts of Bath, about the need to consider the outer areas as well as the centre, and about the rehabilitation of the riverside.
· It’s encouraged the authorities in Bath to be more open.
We announced at the last meeting that pressure of our other community activities meant that we would be unable to carry on organising the Forum after this year. We’re very pleased to say that we now have half a dozen volunteers who have expressed interest in continuing the meetings, and we shall be bringing them together for a discussion shortly. We'd like other people who are interested in Bath’s future to get in touch so that we can involve them too.
Please get in touch with us by ringing 01225 427497.
